The Holy Spirit descended onto Cross Culture Church in Shah Alam on 28 July 2012 as Victor King preached a message of deliverance for all who believed in the power of the Cross.
On his second visit to Cross Culture Church in Shah Alam, the Singaporean gangster-turned-preacher shared a powerful message of forgiveness, hope and salvation based on his personal experience with Jesus.
“2,000 years ago, the greatest sinners in the land ran toward Jesus — fallen women, murderers, liars and thieves,” said King in his opening salvo. “2,000 years later, sinners are all running away from God. There are 20 million Christians in Europe who stay away from church because they fear God.”
And yet, God wants fellowship with his children. He yearns for it.
“If God is angry, it isn’t because of you, or me or anyone else. God is angry with sin.”
Pastor Victor King then proceeded to call upon the congregation to make use of our Saviour here and now, pointing out that Christians don’t need Jesus when they are in church, but when they are out of church.
“We don’t need Jesus in Heaven,” King emphasised. “We need Jesus here on Earth.”
While acknowledging that every person’s journey with Christ is unique, Victor King also revealed some fundamental truths that everyone experiences when they accept Jesus, as well as some misconceptions Christians have about their lives.
“Many Christians equate their blessings to material things or events in their lives,” said King. “They believe that blessings are things like new cars, new jobs, a new baby. But our real blessing is being able to trust in the Lord. You are blessed to have someone you can completely rely on to deliver you all the time, every time. That is a true blessing!”
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
– JER 17:7-8
“If someone you love asks you for something and it is within your power to grant them their wish, wouldn’t you do so?” King challenged the congregation. “Well, God loves us more than we can love possibly love anything or anyone, and everything is within his power! He answers all his children’s prayers when He deems the time is right as long as those prayers are according to His will.”
God is faithful — the Bible says so over and over again, throughout the Old Testament and the New. We need to remember that.
